Catherine Mack
Plays Natalie Davison
When Catherine Mack was asked in year eight what she wanted for Christmas, her answer was an agent, so it’s no surprise her first role was aged 13 in the Children’s program Pigs Breakfast. Since then her guest roles have included Blue Heelers and Winners and Losers.
Growing up in Torquay and Daylesford in Victoria, Catherine spent a year in Tuscany aged seven and has had the travel bug ever since. Settling in Melbourne age 12, Catherine spent four years at Wesley College (just one of the five schools she attended) and has called Albert Park, St Kilda and Williamstown home amongst other Melbourne suburbs.
Whilst taking a step back from acting Catherine majored in Criminology at Melbourne University (her mother is an academic) but realizing something was missing without acting Catherine followed her father’s creative side, (an artist) packed her suitcase and took off.
Before landing in Summer Bay Catherine’s travel adventures have included backpacking through the Amazon and South America. Based in New York for four months, Catherine studied the Summer Intensive course at the Atlantic Acting School (William H. Macy’s school.)
Catherine then received a four month scholarship from January 2011 for the graduate conservatory in Los Angeles and studied with the likes of David Mamet, Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy. With an American agent and visa it seemed Catherine was going to settle in LA until the offer of Summer Bay High’s school counselor Natalie was too good to pass up. Catherine returned to Australia in December 2011 and moved to Sydney to start her role on Home and Away earlier this year.
On her character Natalie:
"Natalie has a very selfless quality and determination to help others that I really admire. After travelling through some very tough times as a teenager she was forced to grow up very quickly. She is passionate and strong, but not without her deep flaws."
Outside of work Catherine loves camping, travel, skateboarding, learning Spanish and photography.
